still you call me baby, oh love... just call me by my name... It had been a week since Bella had first walked through the doors of Forks High School, and yet the reaction was still the same. People stared as she got out the truck alongside Alice, who swiftly took off on her own for class. She'd been slightly absent the last couple of days, which wasn't exactly out of character but then again it wasn't exactly normal. Still it wasn't much fun not having Alice around to talk to, however being in different classes meant she didn't have much time to notice how alone she was. Biology was her first class, followed by Trig and English. Gym was always at the end of the day, and honestly it was the worst class in the world. Bella was too clumsy for gym, it just wasn't safe for her to participate, not just for herself but for her team mates. They usually ended up injured too.
Shaking her head, Bella pulled her bag over her shoulder and slammed the door of her truck shut. It was going to be a long day, not to mention it looked as though it was going to rain...or worse, snow. Ew. The corridors were full, and a couple of Hi Bella's were thrown in her direction, though right now she still wasn't sure of names to faces, so if they expected her to reply and go into conversation they were wrong. All Bella wanted to do was get to class, study and go home. It was a good routine she'd gotten herself into, and it wasn't changing. Taking her seat, which was the front table in Biology, Bella sighed. This class was easy, she'd done it before and yeah it was slightly altered it made no difference. Still, it was something to do.
Pulling out her books, Bella allowed her hair to fall over her face. It meant she didn't have to talk to anyone, infact it was a way of avoiding any sort of contact. Atleast she'd be able to concerntrate on her work and not the weird attention that followed her around school wherever she went. Opening her notebook, Bella grabbed a pen from her bag and began doodling. People were still making their way through the door, which meant class wouldn't start for a few minutes. Great, why was she always early when it came to being somewhere she really didn't want to be.

what if i'm not the superhero.. [/ul] It was no surprise that Edward and his brothers had remained inconspicuous over the last few weeks, Edward did however have the advantage in that area, simply for the fact that he of course could read the minds of others. Lately however many people seemed increasingly preoccupied by new arrivals, not to mention there was a lot of gossip that carried around, it was apparently uncommon to have so many people come to forks and then to enroll within the same school. Unfortunately Carlisle had put his foot down, ever so slightly saying that it was best to attend every lesson and not just the occasional one. Emmett was the one to blame for that, he had his ways, always coaxing both he and Jasper into a hunt, which later led to a small competition. Usually he did not attend biology, after going over the same subjects for many years, of course it would get tiresome.
None the less with disapproving sigh Edward had opted in for driving today. So with a rather cramped looking Emmett in his back seat and a troubled looking Jasper in the font. Edward drove in silence all that needed to be said was being said via thoughts. Jasper had not hunted recently, which would possibly prove a small threat, he hoped Jasper had the strength in him not to generally go crazy. Emmett and he on the other hand, had had a few years of practice the scent of human to him, was currently as pestering as a fly the buzzed irritatingly in front of the face. Sliding his most treasured Volvo into a parking space he climbed out ignoring the looks that happened to slide their way. It was expected by now, As Emmett and Jasper headed off to their lesson. Edward gracefully moved in the direction of the science blocks. A dull hour of biology, a subject he had mastered much like all others, not to mention after attending medical school twice you would of thought he had an understanding of biology, yet under Carlisle instructions he would attend. Perhaps only this lesson.
Moving silently down the small maze of corridors Edward approached the room, his head buzzing silently already alerted him that there was students already in the classroom, as well as those that hurried past him. Opening the door slowly, he was pleased that the people remaining in the class room did not fall quiet, he hated such entries. Glancing around briefly tables begun to fill up, the only seat that was available was next to a girl, whom hid herself behind a curtain of soft brown curls. Making his way to the table he sat down. Did he dare be polite? Currently he was holding his breath as a precaution as it were, he had hunted only last weak but the nagging burning sensation within his throat hinted that it was soon time to hunt. Sliding his chair faintly away from the girl, he settled himself elegantly. His pale hands clasped together on the table top. No he would remain quiet, that way he would avoid unnecessary comments, and friends. Glancing to the girl for a moment, she had not moved barely an inch. His eyes a darkened brown close to black.
It was then and only then that within the buzzing around it seemed oddly quiet from the girl beside him. tuning out the various other babbles and buzzes he focused fruitfully on the girl beside him. But was immediately shocked. Nothing, not even a whisper. He frowned suddenly, this was..abnormal, he had never had trouble reading another thoughts before until now. His gaze focused intently upon the female beside him, he was most certainly intrigued, a moment later he realized he was perhaps being increasingly rude. Casually Edward slide his gaze out of the window, the clouds looked darker, a storm looked very promising, as did snow. As he gazed out the window he continued to frown, perhaps he was misreading her? as the classroom begun to fill and as he remained oblivious to it all he focused his attention on the girl beside him. It was then that in the thoughts of another did he capture the girls name whom sat beside him, Isabella Swan, whom had continuously corrected people to call her Bella. His interest only peaked a fraction higher, and his frustration grew, why could he not read her thoughts?

still you call me baby, oh love... just call me by my name... Class was pretty much full by now, the last few students rushing in through the open door, making it in before Mr Banner appeared. Bella kept her head down and doodling, that was her plan atleast until the class started, she hated making small talk with anyone, and most the kids at this school were determined to strike up some sort of conversation with her. Couldn't they see that she just wanted get through school without having the face the horrible reality that was now her life? Unaware of anything that was going on around her, Bella drifted off into her own world, thinking over her old life back in Arizona, she missed the warmth of the sun. There was never any snow, and rain wasn't exactly a regular occurance, why couldn't all places be the same?
The noise of the chair next to her scraping on the floor bought her back from her day dream. Careful not to jump too much, Bella glanced sideways quickly towards her neighbour. She'd only seen him once before, apparently one of the Cullen kids. Edward, that's what she'd been told anyway. Noticing the way he angled his chair slightly away from her, Bella frowned. What was that about? She wasn't exactly spilling over into his half of the desk. Infact she was quite nicely tucked up on her own side. Shaking her head slightly, she lifted her eyes to the front. The last bell had rung, and Mr Banner walked in, closing the door behind him. Finally, class was about to start, and Bella was more then ready to get it over and done with, the weird tension growing between her neighbour and herself putting her slightly on edge.
Twiddling her pen around in her hands, Bella bit down on her lip. It was the usual sign of impatience, Charlie would always pick her up on it. Glancing sideways once more she noticed the fustrated look on her neighbours face. He didn't seem to be paying much attention to what Mr Banner was saying, instead he was frowning out of the window. That caught her attention. Sighing lightly she noticed the large white blobs falling from the sky. It was snowing...perfect. Her nose wrinkled a little as she bought her attention back around to the front of the class, the excited buzz of voices echoed around the room as more students saw the change in weather. Could this day get any worse?

what if i'm not the superhero.. [/ul] With little in the way of concentration to anything that was happening within the class, his mind occupied with more complex things then listening to Mr Banner prattle on about something unimportant. As soon as that came to his mind the door opened sending with it a gentle breeze that ruffled the class room, what he had not expected was the sudden on slaughter of scent that hit him as hard as if he had been very much punched. His eyes narrowed sharply and his body grew suddenly very rigid. It was a scent unlike any other he had come across or even possibly imagined. He held his breath tightly His hands clenched into sudden fists, and he slide his chair even further away. This was not happening, this was not supposed to happen. Immediately he went into over drive, his throat ached, and venom begun to pool within his mouth yet he did not breath, would not breath. A scent such as hers was not even possible, yet did it smell Oh so wounderful..mouth watering almost, he would leave directly after class and then he would go hunting, he would miss lesson yes, but he would be back in time for his brothers.
His mind on the over hand played a sudden series of pictures, he was stand in a fluid motion, grab the girl and kill her, in an instant, then there was the class to deal with, well he could reach the door before them, perhaps kill all those on the row behind in moments, but then there was the part of getting out, there was the window of course.. No! clenching his hands tighter so much so they were perhaps even paler than before, his eyes had swiftly changed to a deep penetrating black. How dare this girl, ruin all the years he had practiced all the torture he had endured. How very dare she come to Forks, to ruin his life, ruin the one place he was actually beginning to like. Turning his gaze to her, he glared at her coldly, was this some form of punishment? had he not endured enough. Glaring at her for a moment longer he could not help the fact that his eyes briefly swept to her neck, he would just have to reach out..she wouldn't even be able to scream..or perhaps he could coax her away after class..she would come of course.. lead her away from everyone, and no one would know. He turned his heard sharply away, fantasizing about the death of a human was not something he enjoyed. He pressed his lips tightly together irritated at himself, he forced his gaze away from the girl and out the window to see snow begin to fall, he had to get out, at least have something before he truly lost it. Stiffly he raised his hand, maybe he would just hunt for the remaining of the lesson now instead, perhaps maybe, just maybe he could confront her and find out why she had come to such a place, and maybe then he could read her mind, and stand to be near her without wishing to break her neck.
With his hand raised Mr Banner looked to him waiting, before all eyes turned to him. "Excuse me Sir, I'm not feeling at all well, may I be excused?" He questioned his tone despite his discomfort was soft. Thankfully Mr Banner agreed stating that he didn't look well. Pushing back he threw one last hatred filled gaze her way, before he left swiftly, He could hunt now, return before the end of the lesson, and perhaps then he'd be a lot more..civilized? Leaving the block without hesitation he made his way directly for the parking lot, marching out he rounded the corner before he broke into a sprint and headed directly to wards the forest not to far from school. So, During this time Edward had hunted all that he could within the time, he would confront her, and try not to kill her, perhaps he'd even call to the aid of Emmett to restrain him?Returning to school in little time his eyes once again topaz although a duller shade he glanced at the time. He had a few moments before the lesson would end he was acutely surprised that he had even manged to hunt so quickly, yet it was shocking what a few elk, and the odd deer did to one's mood. Making his way as collected as possible Edward settled himself at a bench all that was left to do now was wait. In the mean time he had a few moment to compose himself.

still you call me baby, oh love... just call me by my name... Taking notes as class begun, Bella tried to ignore the boring eyes she felt penetrating through the side of her head. She felt like turning to him and telling him to take a picture, it would last longer. But then again, that was just stupid and childish, and to be honest she didn't fancy drawing much more attention to herself then she already had raining down on her. Alice loved it, she liked having some attention and running wild with it, bringing out all sorts of fashionable outfits that got everyone talking. Bella, however, preferred to just blend into the background...but that seemed impossible here. Everyone here knew her as Chief Swan's daughter, and everyone knew about her mother leaving him and taking Bella with her. The flighty wife's child returns to her rightful home. She was sure that was what everyone was saying.
Biting down hard on her lip, trying to be careful not to draw blood, Bella sighed, chancing a look in her neighbours direction. Quickly she regretted it, he was glaring at her with the most hate-filled stare. It was scary, what had she done to offend him apart from sit at the only free table available in class. It wasn't like she'd had a choice of where to sit, the class was full and unless she bribed someone with a huge amount of money, it was unlikely anyone was going to swap with her. Guys seemed to dislike the Cullens, that she'd noticed. Everyone avoided contact with them, which included sitting near them in class. Huffing in fustration, she turned back to her notebook and scowled into the pages. She hated feeling like she'd done something wrong, especially when she had not a clue in the world what it was.
However her attention was turned away from the scowl when Edward shot his arm up and asked to be excused. Was it really that truely awful to sit next to her. Did she smell or something? Sniffing her hair she shrugged, completely bewildered, it smelled like her favorite strawberry shampoo she'd used that morning. She felt him slide the chair back and move swiftly out and to the door, with much more grace then she'd ever seen in her life. How was that fair? She constantly fell over her own two feet. Still it was nice to be able to relax and pay attention without feeling watched. Bella took notes, answered questions easily, and soon the lesson was coming to an end. A sigh of relief burst through her lips as she watched the clock slowly tick round. Trig was next, she found it more of a challenge, though she was still pretty good at it. Smiling, she carried on with her doodle until the bell rang signalling the end of the lesson...though it seemed to be taking longer to ring then normal, the tension from before still holding against her. Why had he been that way?

what if i'm not the superhero.. [/ul] Time seemed to take twice as longer than it should have as he waited for the bell with a minute to go he got up, and headed back to wards the class room. Already he could seen many students flooding out, he was of course only faintly aware of the many eyes upon him and the muttered whispers as he moved many tended to part to allow him to come through. Not that he minded it was perhaps better, he got to avoid any form of contact. A few specks of snow had landed in his tousled bronze hair not that he had really noticed none the less he ran a brief hand threw his hair and waited, his arms now folded across his chest. As he leaned back against the far wall. Just then he spotted, her making her way carefully to wards the exit. Pushing off from the wall he fell into step beside her, so far her scent was at the moment only just bearable. "I would like to talk to you, if you do not mind." he questioned his voice as casual as he could possibly make it.
He pressed his lips together in a tight line and then reached out to take her arm to get her attention, however as soon as he did so he instantly released his grasp, hoping beyond hope she did not notice the coldness, at least if she did he could pass it off due to the snow. "I'm sorry." he added before he then continued. Perhaps he should start again, "Forgive me..My action back in the classroom were not acceptable, I had..things on my mind. I'm sorry that I did not get the chance then to introduce myself. I am Edward Cullen and you are Bella Swan." it was more of a statement than introduction, he glanced around, perhaps he should save it for later. Hesitant for a moment he looked back to her. "Where are you heading next?" he questioned, he had suddenly so many questions to ask, questions he had not expected until now, there was something about this girl that niggled at his mind, he wanted to find out more. No. He had to find out more, about what she thought, how her mind worked, where as he enjoyed a challenge this was one challenge he had not expected yet one he was all to willing to take.
As they walked again, he thought for a moment yet at the same time he struggled to keep himself composed, her scent..why did she have to smell so good? If he was pestering her then he would leave her alone, or at least try to. "If I am..irritating you, please say so and I can leave you alone..it's just..I find you most fascinating, your not as easy to read as others are, and I cannot help but wish to know exactly what story resides within your book. Hence my curiosity on such matters." He admitted. With the many things he wanted to say, he didn't quite want to, there was the fear of scaring away Bella, which thinking about it was probably a good thing, he could try to be away from her most certainly, but his curiosity would always remain and would always remain until he had found what he wished to know. One thing was sure, it was not at all healthy.

still you call me baby, oh love... just call me by my name... Scooping her books up and placing them in her bag, Bella pushed herself away from the desk and headed out of the door. It had been such a long lesson, or atleast it had felt like that any way. And now she had to face the snow, atleast for a little bit, on her way to Trig. Not that she really felt like school at all today, sure she liked trig, it would be a bit of a distraction, especially helping her take her mind off of Edwards odd behaviour. She hadn't even spoken to him before, so how she'd annoyed him so badly she didn't know. She heard the excitement and laughter coming from the quad, obviously the snowball fights had started, or atleast a little taster before the big one she'd heard a couple of guys planning in biology kicked off. Eugh, Bella made a mental note to make sure she got out of class and into her truck before anyone else, she didn't fancy getting herself caught up in the middle of some freezing frenzy. Anything cold and wet just really grossed her out.
As she rounded the corner, out of the door, Bella noticed the one person she thought she'd managed to shrug off for the day. He was leaning against the wall. Great, this was going to be interesting. Sighing, Bella passed him by and headed over towards trig, only to hear his soft, soothing voice come from behind her, making her jump slightly. "Erm, sure...I don't mind," she shrugged, sure that there was an extremely confused look stapled onto her face. That wasn't going anywhere very soon. As he pulled her arm, she froze. He released her arm as quickly as he'd grabbed it, but she couldn't help but rub it slightly. It had felt like an electric current had just hit her from his fingertips. That was weird. Bella listened to him, and his apology that ran into an introduction. Of course, she had known who he was already, but how did he know to call her Bella? "Thats right, but why did you call me Bella? Everyone here calls me Isabella...I get the feeling my dad calls me that behind my back," she frowned, Charlie knew she hated being called Isabella, yet he insisted to introduce her that way to anyone new. "I've erm, I've got trig next," Bella muttered, trying to ignore the changed in his eyes, she was sure they were different. Slightly more...golden then the flat black she'd noticed in the classroom.
Shaking her head, Bella pushed a smile through, kind of similar to the one she put on for Charlie when he asked her how she was finding Forks. "You're not irritating me, but I'm not sure what you mean about me being hard to read...my Mom always said I was an open book." The thought of her mother made her heart sink a little. She missed her a lot, not that she wasn't fond of Charlie, but she'd lived with her mom all her life, it was weird not having her around. "Feeling better I take it?" she enquired casually.

what if i'm not the superhero.. [/ul] Erm, sure...I don't mind, Bella commented the reaction he received to touch her arm was not one he had expected. He frowned softly, yes something was defiantly not right, or was right but he hadn't a clue which was right and which was not. Thats right, but why did you call me Bella? Everyone here calls me Isabella...I get the feeling my dad calls me that behind my back, He watched her reaction now this was most confusing, did she not like being called Bella? yet she had corrected people countless times. "I can call you Isabella if you prefer? Only I have heard..many times that you did not wish to be called Isabella?" he questioned his expression curious. I've erm, I've got trig next, He nodded and continued to walk beside her, heading in the direction of the classrooms. For a moment he remained silent, and curious still about her, first off she questioned why he had called her Bella when she had corrected everyone, secondly she took more care in walking than many others, not to mention he could not read her mind, that was also increasingly irritating.
You're not irritating me, but I'm not sure what you mean about me being hard to read...my Mom always said I was an open book. At this he arched his dark eyebrow thoughtfully, he glanced to her again his interest had peaked once more, perhaps there was more to Bella than he had first thought. "On the contary..I find you most..difficult to read, the others are easier..but you..you are a puzzle." he admitted with a gentle shrug, however he was watching her so intently that he noticed her reaction, which sparked yet further questions. "I'm curious..why did you move to Forks? you don't seem to be all that happy here.."He commented lightly with a small inquisitive frown. Feeling better I take it? Bella asked, In reply Edward gave a small smile, his lips twitched faintly. "Something like that yes, I had.. a lot on my mind, so I took a breather." He added which was partly the truth at the least. As they walked he noted the odd glance they received and he heard the occasional mutter. Indifferent as ever eventually they reached the classroom Bella had stopped at. Moving, he came to rest against the wall beside her, crossing his arms over his chest. "I heard you came to live with your father..what about your mother? Do you miss her?" he paused as his brow furrowed. "I'm sorry I'm just trying to work it out, not many people move from Arizona to come live in the wettest..if not dullest town."he admitted. He looked to her for a moment, as he now had an hour free to study, he pushed off the wall. "I should go, I'll catch you later."he spoke, glancing up past her shoulder he turned and left just as Jessica Stanly appeared beside Bella.
Yet another hour to kill with little in the way of things to do. On seconds thoughts perhaps he could eaves drop on the conversation? at the same time, accidentally on purpose tune in to Jessica's thoughts, there was no harm involved just genuine curiosity. Making his way down the hall he settled himself on a bench, they were still very much in rage. So now he begun to listen intently, occasionally his gaze swept the corridor at the remaining students that hurried pass. What was it about Bella that bothered him, she was just an insignificant human being, whom had nearly driven him out of town, it was pathetic, barely even worth it. Leaning back on the bench he begun to listen, perhaps some answers would be uncovered during this hour, after that it was break..maybe he could question her further, then again he didn't wish to seem so persistent just encase he was to scare her away. As much as that idea appealed to him, there were still many things that remained unanswered.

still you call me baby, oh love... just call me by my name... Frowning slightly, Bella sighed, she hated being called Isabella, and she had gone through the past few days constantly correcting everyone into calling her Bella, but he hadn't even got it wrong first time. It just seemed a little odd. "No, Bella's good, you just caught me off guard, I'm used to having to correct everyone around here," she laughed stiffly, trying not to let the confusion show anymore then it already was. The silence was weird, she had no idea what class he had next but he just seemed to continue walking with her. Maybe he had trig too? No that would just be too much of a coinscidence. Carefully tucking a stray hair behind her ear, Bella looked up at Edward. He still wore that fustrated look on his face, the exact same one she'd seen in class, only this time it didn't look as...angry.
Shrugging his comment off, she smiled a little. No one had ever called her a puzzle before, finally she'd met someone who couldn't instantly pick up on every movement or facial expression and know what it meant, even when she wasn't speaking people managed to understand her. His next question made Bella frown, she didn't like trying to explain why she had moved to Forks, people didn't ask her usually, they avoided it like the plague. "Its kind of...complicated," she sighed. Okay so it wasn't that complicated, but right now Bella didn't feel like explaining it. Nodding as he explained he'd had a lot on his mind, she figured it would be best to leave it at that for now. She could tell it would be like getting blood out of a stone, which wasn't something she felt like doing today. Stopping outside the classroom, Bella turned to look at Edward. They were a little early to class, and she didn't feel like going in to face Jessica, who she could see already bouncing with excitement. Too many questions were going to be asked in the next hour, not fun! Pulling herself back, taking in Edwards question, she rolled her eyes. "I do miss her, it's just, complicated. My mom remarried, and the guy Phil, he's great but he plays baseball so he moved around a lot. I knew she missed him when he left so, I chose to move here." It had sounded more complicated then it really was.
Nodding she watched him leave before turning and walking into the classroom, Jessica was pretty much squeeling with excitement. Great. All through the lesson she answered her friends questions with a yes, no, maybe or an I don't know...really she couldn't be bothered to pay proper attention, there was not much to say. It was another long hour, hardly anything the teacher said went in, yet all her notes were made as if she understood. Well that sucked, extra homework later trying to figure out what it was they'd covered. Bella frowned, wondering what the break time would hold. Break wasn't her best time, like lunch, it meant a certain amount of time with absolutely nothing to do, unless she could find Alice and explain her weird morning to her. Maybe she'd have an answer for it all. Grabbing her books and bag she made it out toward the cafeteria, only to notice Edward was there, sitting on a bench...looking more like a greek god then anyone had the right to. She frowned slightly, this day was turning super weird.

what if i'm not the superhero.. [/ul] No, Bella's good, you just caught me off guard, I'm used to having to correct everyone around here, Bella stated, at least they had gotten that cleared up. After questioning her about why she had come to forks there was a moment of silence before she had finally spoken. Its kind of...complicated, She added, at which, the corners of Edward's lips twitched up into a crooked smile. "I'm sure I can keep up" He offered and waited for her to carry on, perhaps he was making his fascination a bit too obvious? it was clear however by her expression that she did not wish to discuss it at the moment hence why she had then switched the topic of discussion, That part could wait until later then. I do miss her, it's just, complicated. My mom remarried, and the guy Phil, he's great but he plays baseball so he moved around a lot. I knew she missed him when he left so, I chose to move here. With a small frown Edward replied. "Well..that doesn't sound to complicated, but your not happy?" he questioned perhaps he could break down her outer shell further to then see exactly how she worked, what made Bella. Bella.
None the less it was then that it was clear their conversation could wait. As the girl approached, Bidding Bella goodbye he turned and left Bella to face her impending doom, gossip was one thing he never really understood, gossip was usually an elaborated form of the truth, or something that was false but made more interesting so that others would believe it. Surprisingly the hour seemed to pass quickly from what he had picked up..which hadn't been a lot, he was still really none the wiser, Raising to his feet, he fell once again into step beside Bella, He would talk with her over break, and then he would leave it as that, he hoped he was not coming across to bold. Yet he could not help his curiosity. Once again her scent hit him like a blunt blow into the stomach knocking what air he held from his already dead lungs. He paused for a moment to collect himself before he picked up the conversation from earlier. "How was your lesson? You don't seem to enjoy Jessica's company all that much, She's an acquired taste however" he mused and bit back a laughter at his brief personal joke he shook his head, such things were not amusing, but he could not help it, something about that Jessica girl bothered him.
He glanced ahead, briefly before he glanced to Bella. "Why don't you walk with me? If that is alright, there is still much I am curious about, but if it bothers you then it doesn't matter, I would rather hear it from the person, than from second hand information, the truth tends to get..twisted often." he commented as he begun to walk beside her, he didn't wish to be a pain, he wished to simply talk, perhaps, maybe and only just they could be friends..at least try too, even though it was increasingly wrong. "Back to the reason you moved here, you moved because your mother re-married, do you not like him?" Edward questioned his tone curious as always, his gaze intently looking to her. She was unique that was for sure, he wondered briefly exactly what his brothers would say about such a thing, knowing Emmett, he would probably just say kill her. He frowned and resisted the urge to shudder, if blood had been spilled then he hadn't any idea how he would possibly manage to contain himself, and then the whole world would know.

still you call me baby, oh love... just call me by my name... Not sure what to do, Bella walked cautiously over to where Edward stood. This was getting weird now, he seemed so...angry at her earlier, how was it that he now felt like waiting for her after her lesson? She didn't feel like carrying on with the conversation from before, talking about why she'd moved here just dragged her down a little bit, making her slightly uncomfortable. Its not like she enjoyed explaining her own punishment, sending herself here out of choice. Even her mother had taken some convincing. Shrugging, Bella smiled half-heartedly, "she's alright, just so...intense, I always feel like she wants to know too much." Bella felt her bottom lip curl into a frown, okay so Jessica bugged her a bit more then what she let on, she hated people prodding at her private life. However, it meant having people to sit with at lunch, and Alice was happier around people so that was that.
Looking up at Edward, Bella nodded without thinking. His eyes tended to draw her into agreeing with whatever he wanted. Quickly she made a mental note, no eye contact, not if she wanted to avoid the questions and fustration she felt coming out of him. Sighing, she hoisted her bag up onto her shoulder, making it more comfortable. She didn't feel like talking about her reasons, but there was no way around it, he'd get it out of her one way or another. "No, Phil's great, it was just easier...when he travelled I knew my mom missed him." Wrinkling her nose, she glanced sideways, looking up at Edwards face, full of curiousity. She could see he had so much more to ask her. Great.
The hall was buzzing, hushed voices and whispers following the pair around. Nervous looks were being thrown in their direction. It seemed that most people in the school were intimidated by Edward, though out of him and his brothers, she was pretty sure who she'd be more intimidated of. The eldest one was huge, terrifying, for sure he was not one you'd want to meet in a dark alley. "What about you? What's your family like?" Bella asked casually, diverting her attention away from the jealous glares the girls of the school seemed to be shooting her way. Hell, what was everyones problem?
(ooc: sorry its short, promise next one will be better)

what if i'm not the superhero.. [/ul] Soon enough Edward spotted Bella emerging he waited silently as she then approached him, which was one thing he hadn't expected truthfully, he would of thought by now that he had scared her of, yet he was met with another surprise. As Bella drew closer Edward was once again stunned by the rich tantalizing scent that ebbed from her torturing him so very much, he found it hard to concentrate on the reason as to why he was so increasingly interested in a simple human being. she's alright, just so...intense, I always feel like she wants to know too much. Bella said moments later, he smiled softly, the corners of his lips arching into a crooked smile. "I never did get the reason behind gossip, from what I know she seems to be the conduct for it." He mused softly. "Personally, I think, people tend to start gossip only because they have nothing else to do" He shrugged elegantly as they begun to walk slowly.
Looking ahead, Edward was only faintly aware of Bella's gaze upon his face yet he said nothing merely kept his expression neutral. No, Phil's great, it was just easier...when he traveled I knew my mom missed him. He frowned lightly as she explained her reason, it still made little sense. "So you left because your mother missed Phil..and you left to give them time together? Hm, that still doesn't explain why your hear, because now your unhappy.." He pressed his lips and shook his head, as he looked to her. "That hardly seems fair." He commented absently at the thought, none the less it was obvious Bella was growing uncomfortable with such questions so for now he decided he would drop the current topic. What about you? What's your family like? He laughed lowly, his tone gentle and soothing, startling a few passer bys although he barely glanced at them. With a smile he looked back to Bella, amusement evident in his eyes. "Well, what would you like to know about them?" he questioned conversationally as they made their way to wards the lunch hall which he hoped would be quiet what with the many students out side no doubt playing in the snow.
Holding the door open for her, Edward then made his way to wards one of the far tables near the window. Lunch was only two hours away, perhaps then they could continue further conversations? As he took his seat, he gestured for Bella to take a seat opposite him, leaning forward Edward rested his arms upon the table casually, yet his expression was still one of mild amusement."My family aren't at all that interesting as others make them out to be, that I can tell you." Edward commented with a soft smile as he awaited for Bella's questions to begin.
